Always moisten your line with saliva or water before pulling tight.
The Palomar Knot is a very simple and strong fishing knot for tying a line to a hook as long as it is tied properly. It is important to never cross the lines over each other that run through the hook eye because on monofilament and fluorocarbon lines the top line will press down on the bottom line causing the knot to break more easily.
The Two Turn Clinch Knot (aka Trilene Knot) is a simple knot that is a great choice for attaching monofilament and fluorocarbon fishing lines to hooks, lures and swivels.
The Improved Clinch Knot is a very popular method for tying line to a lure, hook or swivel.
The Arbor Knot is used for tying line to the reel and can be used for both baitcast or spinning reels. This knot is suggested for monofilament and fluorocarbon lines. This can be also used for braided superlines or unifilament if the spool is designed with a non-slip braid-ready spool.
The Blood Knot is a great choice for splicing two lines of similar diameter. Ideal for attaching leader lines such as fluorocarbon or monofilament leaders to a braided mainline.
The Non-Slip Loop Knot creates a fixed loop so a lure can move freely (as opposed to a Clinch Knot where the knot is tightly tied to the hook.)
The Duncan's Loop forms a loop at the end of the line, allowing the lure or fly to move freely.
The Albright Knot is a great choice for attaching a mainline to a leader line, especially when using two lines of different diameter.
The Surgeon's Knot is easy to tie and is useful to join two lines of moderately unequal size, e.g., a tippet to a leader.
The Berkley Braid Knot is a good choice for tying braided lines to hooks, lures and leaders. It was developed in the Berkley lab to retain good knot strength and stops braided lines from slipping out of the knot.
